Frost and Sullivan predicts new funding model for autonomous cars

Autonomous cars will shortly be with us. By 2025 Frost & Sullivan predicts there will be some 100,000 driverless vehicles motoring in Europe alone.

The driving forces pushing the move towards self-drive autos are seemingly unstoppable and include the need to ease congestion in cities, save lives through reducing fatal crashes, preserving the environment by the use of alternative power trains, and increasing the concept of “mobility for all”.

In this video, Graeme Banister, consulting editor at Frost & Sullivan looks into the future and examines a time when auto owners take that “leap of faith” and move from lightly automated to fully automated vehicles – the point at which artificial intelligence replaces the traditional driver entirely.

Furthermore, he delves into future technology and envisages a time when systems “learn on the job and correct themselves”.

As a new model for car ownership evolves, current manufacturers, who build autos for people to own fall into stark contrast to those “Disruptors” who work at making vehicles for people to use.

As a revolutionary new use of vehicles comes into play so on-demand services for vehicle funding will evolve – all centred on commercial partnerships delivering specific uses for mobility. Will the traditional model of retail auto lender and fleet leasing company be replaced by an agglomeration of financial institutions/manufacturers/public bodies/ and transport infrastructures – watch the video to find out….
