landers peter

MotoNovo Finance has appointed Peter Landers as group head of strategy, a move that reinforces the company’s ambition to enter new financial service markets

With an extensive career in financial services that has included senior roles within Lloyds Banking Group and HBOS in the UK and Europe, Landers joins the fast-growing MotoNovo team from Grant Thornton.

In his previous roles, he has been actively involved in M&A activity with a host of consumer, automotive and asset finance acquisitions and disposals as well as providing consulting expertise to a broad range of clients on market entry, growth and diversification.

It is a track record that provided a perfect fit for Mark Standish, MotoNovo Group CEO, who said: “Having known and worked with Peter for many years, it is an absolute pleasure to have him on board at what is an exciting time for us. Our parent, FirstRand Bank, has been highly supportive of our expansion plans and Peter’s appointment is central to helping us to both bring identified new businesses to market and in pinpointing that next disruptive opportunity to support the financing needs of both businesses and consumers.

“Peter is proving to be a great fit for our team; he has real understanding of the markets we are in and the markets we are entering. Just as importantly, he has a terrific empathy with our can-do culture and has been able to hit the road running for us”.

Standish added that MotoNovo has built its reputation in automotive finance. “Today, its commitment to innovate and change now sees the business financing one in every four used cars funded by an independent point of sale lender. Many of the digital and product initiatives that the business has introduced are now seen as core parts of motor finance. It is this same innovative zeal and passion that MotoNovo is planning to introduce to areas including asset and retail finance.”

Landers is excited by the prospect and reflected: “We have a blank canvas to work with. There are no legacy issues and plenty of energy. As I’ve seen many times in my career this freedom is a powerful force and it is a compelling opportunity that I’m thrilled to be part of. Nothing is off the table, in terms of our development strategy and I am delighted to be part of a team with such a positive approach to growth”.
