​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​J2741 - Our client is seeking a Head of Credit to lead, oversee and manage all lending activities for the asset finance and loans business, including the Credit proposition and policies, deal structuring, approval processes, credit administration, reporting and reviews thereof. You will also manage the relationship with block discount lenders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement and execute the Credit Policy for Asset Finance and term loans.

  • Establish robust credit processes & controls, and execute against them, to ensure the own-book lending business delivers outstanding customer service, whilst maintaining the quality of the asset finance/loans portfolio.

  • Underwrite individual transactions and credit facilities within agreed business appetite, policy and delegated approval authority framework.

  • Resource, develop, performance manage and motivate the Credit team to achieve the company’s wider business goals.

  • Be accountable for the overall quality of the lending portfolio.

  • Review, analyse and formulate recommendations for credit applications.

  • Line manage and coach all direct reports, including all aspects of performance management, development, conduct, sickness management, appraisals, employee administration and recruitment.

  • To ensure the timely production of management information, and ensure the continued development of quality management information to support better decision making.

  • Enhance internal credit processes and procedures to ensure the blending of mandatory requirements with better automation and fewer manual tasks.

  • Appraise the credit and risk position of the company and provide regular reports on business performance, profitability and growth. 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • 3-5 years’ underwriting hard and/or soft assets experience in the asset finance market with an average deal size of < £250,000.

  • Experience of underwriting term loans with an average deal size of < £100,000.

  • Experience of implementing Credit Policies and monitoring performance against these Policies.

  • Experience of leading and developing a team of Credit Underwriters and/or analysts.

  • Experience of liaising with or underwriter on behalf of block discount lenders, including review/management of audits. 

We strongly favour applicants with proven relevant experience in Financial Services; particularly in Asset Finance and Leasing.
