​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​J3012 - Our client is seeking a Head of Block Discounting to define and implement strategy to build its block discounting & wholesale funding capabilities; including originations, credit risk, and in-life management. You will own the BD balance sheet and grow a specialist team to promote the offering in the block market to ensure growth KPIs and safe lending objectives are met.

Salary: £90,000 - £125,000 plus excellent bonus and benefits. Location: UK, London (Hybrid).

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with stakeholders to define business plan and risk framework for the block & wholesale proposition.

• Implement the plan to deliver against agreed growth objectives. This includes growing a niche & dedicated team.

• Work with 2nd line risk to document a suitable credit policy and set of lending procedures.

• Work with Risk & Compliance function to ensure effective quality assurance processes, which evidence compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

• Monitor business performance and team productivity.

• Provide regular clear reporting to key stakeholders on business and team performance against business objectives. This includes a dedicated slot in the formal monthly governance meeting.

• Support the wider Asset Finance management on process and operational improvements.

• Manage the newly formed block & wholesale team by training, coaching and mentoring, to ensure colleagues are technically and practically competent.

• Monitor and provide guidance on staffing levels relative to service levels, business demands and quality.

• Maintain and develop own skills, knowledge and behaviours whilst maintaining awareness of industry and regulatory standard and changes.

• As part of the Asset Finance senior management team you will be expected to participate in monthly management meetings, provide input into the budgeting process, and act as a brand ambassador for client in the Asset Finance market. 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

• At least 10 years Asset Finance / Leasing experience of which minimum of 5 years in Block Discounting.

• Minimum 4 years experience as function head of a lending business.

• Qualified in credit management.

• Experience working / presenting at exco level.

• Strong IT skills and awareness of emerging technologies

• Experience preparing credit papers and an in analysing financial information.

• Highly organised with excellent time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure to tight timescales whilst paying attention to detail.

• 2 years proven experience in a senior credit role.

• Excellent knowledge of block & wholesale funding products and market.

• Good working knowledge and understanding of Asset Finance including different product types.

• Conversant with FCA, AML regulation, FOS and GDPR.

• Excellent knowledge of regulatory & compliance matters in relation to asset finance.

• Strong financial analysis skills, credit assessment and underwriting skills for Hire Purchase and Finance Lease agreements. In particular around debt serviceability testing. Able to assess risk on Asset Finance transactions in the £500k - £2.5m range.
