Tomorrow’s Journey has announced that Arwen Smit has joined the company to advise on business and blockchain strategy.

Smit is well-known in the mobility sector as a co-founder of DOVU, the blockchain-powered reward platform that has recently piloted with BMW/Alphabet.

She left DOVU earlier this year to focus on another start-up MintBit, a consultancy that aims to unlock the benefits of the blockchain for businesses.

Smit is the latest senior industry figure to support Tomorrow’s Journey, with board members including White Clarke Group founder and industry stalwart Ed White, former JLR board member David Betteley and automotive software entrepreneur Paul Bennett.

Chris Kirby, co-founder and CEO of Tomorrow’s Journey, said the appointment comes at an exciting time for the business, with a number of pilots due to begin in Q3 this year and an ambitious product development roadmap.

He added: “Her previous experience as entrepreneur in residence with JLRs InMotion, and as a co-founder of DOVU and MintBit makes her the perfect advisor to help us grow, and incorporate blockchain elements into the JRNY platform.”

New mobility is estimated to become a £900 billion a year industry by 2025 and Tomorrow’s Journey is focused on solving a fundamental issue that faces both new and existing mobility models - the chronic under-utilisation of assets.

Its first product, JRNY takes underutilised assets and matches them with unmet demand through a concept called the shared neutral fleet.

Smit said: “Tomorrow’s Journey is one of those startups that could truly revolutionise how we think about mobility. The team is great, and I can’t wait to get started and to bring the blockchain into the solution to enhance it even further.”
